These symptoms, tree at left in the photo at right, are common when a tree’s ability to transport water, nutrients and carbohydrates (sugars and starches) between its leaves and roots are restricted.
This often happens when tree trunks are injured by lawn mowers, string trimmers or “girdling” roots.
Root damage caused by nearby construction projects also limits the movement of water and nutrients from roots to leaves.
And, these symptoms are common on young trees if they’ve been planted too deep, at left, or watered too frequently.
