 Overgrown Evergreens

Juniper (Juniperus)

Most junipers become much too large for use in foundation plantings. There’s simply no such thing as a truly dwarf juniper. Therefore, few are appropriate for use in foundation plantings! As a rule, junipers thrive in hot, dry, sunny locations that have very well-drained (i.e., gravely or sandy) soils, and will die if planted in wet, poorly drained soils. And, while they may persist in shady locations for many years, they always decline as nearby trees grow and cast more shade over time.
